There is no smell and the unit is virtually silent, with the air pump only consuming 60 watts of power. The Fusion is so easy to use, that one almost forgets that it is there, or that it needs a maintenance check on it every year or so! The hassle and cost saving of not having to clear a septic tank every couple of months is significant, and the unit will eventually pay for itself.
